Absolutely right - there are reasons Trump refuses to release any of his taxes or financial records and is fighting tooth & nail to stop any transparency on that front.
We know from Michael Cohen that Trump was fine with campaign finance violations and also tax & bank fraud by lying on his forms to banks on the value of properties (to get bigger loans at favorable interest rates) and to the IRS on the same (to minimize taxes paid).
He has been named as Individual 1 in the campaign finance Cohen indictment as the one directing the illegal activity and I'm confident his bank and tax fraud will eventually be exposed - his company and family members are likely complicit in the misconduct and hopefully will be held accountable as well.
That is probably the only lever one could use on Trump - his family; he might back off if he knew Ivanka, Jared, Don Jr and Eric faced serious criminal charges from either the Trump organization activity or their own shenanigans. However, what SF says is true, Trump has zero shame, ethics, morals or sense of justice. It is kill or be killed, period, in his worldview and so no action is too far or too outrageous if it helps him win. We've already seen tons of evidence of that so far.
The bottom line is the rule of law must be re-established and enforced. Even if it causes some havoc, Trump and his cronies must be held to account and a clear signal sent that our Republic is not for sale and that demagogues who try to subvert our institutions and twist our government to serve their purposes will never be allowed. We must re-build those institutions and work to re-gain the trust of the people so they do not fall for a manipulative fraud like Trump again.
