Joe Biden is the incumbent. He's seeking re-election. What is the historical likelihood of a first-term incumbent President being replaced by his own party? If he chooses not to run (Lyndon Johnson), that's one thing. But being cast aside by his own party?
This talk of the Democrats "seeking an alternative" is what's pish posh. It's ahistorical. It doesn't happen. If Biden is primaried aggressively, he'll be weakened, but he'll be the nominee.
If No Labels effectively runs a Joe Manchin (e.g., gets him on the ballot in the critical battleground states), Trump will win the election. If they get Manchin on the ballot in those states, and Biden wins anyway, you can quote this and ridicule me. But I'm wagering my understanding of how American presidential electoral politics works is greater than yours.
Joe Biden's record in the White House is "sorry"? Lessee..
- Approximately 11 million jobs created during his administration.
- Unemployment stands at about 3.5%
- the Chips and Science Act is bringing semiconductor mfg. onshore, creating some of those jobs.
- the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act - jobs, roads, bridges, passenger rail, electric grid improvements, high-speed internet, environmental improvements.
- The Safer Communities Act - the first success (although limited) to address the gun problem in more than a generation.
- Support for Ukraine, through strengthening NATO. Expanding NATO to include Sweden and Finland.
- Strengthening Indo-Pacific alliances and relationships.
All of these things are real. They're not myths, they're not just talking points. They're not "what we're going to do two weeks from now," the way Trump's boasts - and failures - were.
When you just assert that Biden's record is "sorry," that's partisan spin. But if you want to be credible, spell out specific things Biden has implemented that qualify as "sorry," and why. Specify specific things that Biden has not done, that should have been done (and that weren't blocked by his political adversaries), where that failure qualifies as "sorry." In the absence of specifics, you're just blowing smoke.
