Austinfan... I agree with your assessment of what Trump's stated intentions would cause - and you didn't even include the effects of large across-the-board tariffs.
Where we seem to disagree is that you appear to believe that rational heads will prevent Trump from implementing his program of vengeance and racial hatred. I'm not so optimistic - I'm not convinced that Trump really cares about what his "business supporters" need or want; not after the election.
If we know anything about Trump, we know that he has no loyalty to anybody, no concern about anybody's interests except his own. If he is re-elected and sworn is as POTUS #47... what further need will he have for Elon Musk, or Miriam Adelson... or any other supporters? Republicans in Congress will continue to be terrified of his ability to end their careers. Nobody will serve in his Cabinet unless they bow and scrape to his whims. No more Jim Mattis. Not even any more William Barr. He'll surround himself with a combination of craven yes-men, and far-right true believers who intend to exploit a second Trump administration to implement their own fever dreams (Ryan Zinke?). Project 2025. White nationalism.
You seem to believe that saner heads will prevail. You're assuming that the "insaner" heads - Trump's, but also those of the Stephen Millers, the Michael Flynns, the Steve Bannons - haven't learned anything from their experience, and aren't prepared to counter any saner heads that try to intervene.
Maybe I'm unreasonably pessimistic. I certainly hope that I am. But I've been immersed in this stuff - political/economic history, theory, practice - for a long time (45 years, not including time as a "Teenage Republican"). It's possible that has rendered me overly cynical; it's also possible that it's made me clear-eyed.
