Since it isn't my money, I'd like to spend a bunch. And it is a relatively small bunch. I realize that we need to look at free agency and the International markets. And probably a few guys that we want to keep around that deserve extensions.
But I know we are badly missing Davey Lopes. I realize that he is probably my age (as in OLD) so we need the next best young teacher of stealing, getting a good lead, sliding without breaking a hand, and base running generally and get him to Philly regardless of the cost. We have a bunch of really quick kids now, unusually quick, and we aren't getting nearly enough out of their base running. We must lead the majors in guys getting thrown out at home. Cesar could have double the steals if he knew how. This may end up being one of the fastest teams in the Majors when we add Alfaro and Kingery but what is the point if they can't take advantage of it. Pitching coach isn't the only upgrade we need. Get the next Lopes!
