I also think if he turns into an MVP caliber player they will sweeten those options somehow, or maybe just tear up the whole thing early and re-do.
I'd say this is also the luxury of not trying to win at all costs this season (though again the Dodgers model shows you can also win). Half the team is guys who may struggle and go through adjustment periods, and that's ok. Part of the reason the four free agents are here is to create an environment and cushion in which they can do that.
