6th year college quarterbacks tend to be pretty good. It did not really hurt Bo Nix' draft status and Beck can get a few million of NIL money to get him beyond his injury. Can he not just stay at Georgia? Not really up on their QB situation but their backup that played in the playoffs was really pretty mediocre.

Allar is not terrible, he is a good QB that only had one dependable receiving option this year, the WRs were all bad. He had Warren and two RBs and that was the offense. I blame the OC, trying to play hero ball with 40 seconds left. The interception was over the middle of the field, they should have been working the sidelines. They could have tried to win with a long field goal and if not, have gone into overtime with I think a better red zone offense and defense. Allar will stay for next year, but they better get some receiving options for him.

Surely they can change his mind by pointing out all the educational options he could have af Penn State. Maybe check what his major offers.

Allar repeatedly makes the same mistakes in a high game. Throwing off his back foot, into double/triple coverage, in the middle of the field when he should be working the sidelines, etc. I don't know if it's poor coaching or just a kid who was able to get away with this stuff in high school who isn't listening to his coaches, but until he makes some basic fundamental changes, he's just going to be a good - not great - quarterback.

Meanwhile Quinn Ewers just says he's definitely leaving Texas and going to the NFL - with Manning there he's not really supposed to be back anyway but a lot of people thought he might transfer - and the pundits said he could be anywhere from a first or second rounder to a sixth rounder. Allar's probably a second-rounder himself.

It would be a pretty bad look if Allar decided to leave or if PSU now encouraged him to leave with Pribula already gone. I'm not sure it would make sense for them to look in the portal for next year though. It's a retool type year, just let one of the young QBs jump into the fire rather than being buried behind a one-and-done outsider.

Well, every game is not a Game 7 anymore. Not only did the two previous losses not hurt PSU's playoff run, they wound up with an easier draw than the teams that beat them (and like I said Will Howard especially screwed up as much as Allar this year, and then Nix got smothered by the Buckeyes the second time).

Franklin now 1-15 against AP Top 5 teams. Ohio State 4-1 against them just this year (including the win over PSU).

I think the time will still come. He is pretty much in Tom Osborne/Bobby Bowden territory, guys who needed a long time to win a national championship and in most cases would have been fired by today's rhythms - but not necessarily with better results if they had been. And Franklin's buyout makes him pretty much unfireable. Either way he'd actually have to perform like Jimbo Fisher did (11-11 his last two season) to get to that point.

But might be nice to win a Big 10 title, or at least control their own destiny into Indy. Which merely requires actually beating Ryan Day.

Already an odd off-season. Both RBs coming back, Dennis-Sutton coming back, and clearly a lot of NIL money was involved (and for Allar too). But Clemson gave Tom Allen around $2 million a year (including, ultimately, a $900K buyout to PSU).
