I don't think it has to be West Coast but he did not consider any East Coast teams the first time. 5 Western teams plus Angels and Cubs.
I think any team will still let him pitch. And want him to. I mean do you think the Rangers' signing of DeGrom will make them reluctant to take that sort of risk again or does it just show that almost any team with money considers it a risk worth taking? He will have to fail first to stop, IMO.
I don't know that I would accuse the Angels of a lack of urgency. They just made the wrong moves, same as the Mets or Yankees really (though with even less success), and also failed to develop enough guys (same as, well, us). .
