Honestly I just find that kind of funny, I would definitely be inclined to take the players side if the issue is not risking injury in a meaningless game at this point in the season, but in this case it is tied to the ridiculous definitions of the closer role that teams, players and agents have all helped define together, and that's how it comes off here.
i.e., "I'm a closer, a three-out ninth inning guy, and it's unreasonable to ask me do more in a meaningless game."
Bet he's still mad Melvin didn't let him face Harper last year too.
