Right-hander Max Scherzer is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season with a strained teres major -- a muscle that connects the scapula to the humerus. Scherzer is, Texas GM Chris Young told reporters, "unlikely" to pitch in the playoffs.

The Dodgers pitching has been kind of devasted. They just called up another prospect but they might have the equivalent of guys like Abel and McGarry pitching for them in the postseason after Kershaw who is himself damaged. Assumes they don't let Urias pitch is not injured but also not available to them now.

Somehow the computer thinks Trea only has a 9% chance at 30-30. Obviously the pace of home runs has dramatically increased. Feels greater than 50-50 to me at this point.

Dang, it does seem like since 2012, the Red Sox either finish last or win the WS or come close (2013 WC, 2018 WC, 2021 ALCS). They did finish first in 2016 and 2017 before bowing out in the NLDS). Other than that, it feels like they build for one-year windows of opportunity..

The teres major muscle is a lean cut of beef from the chuck section of a cow. It's located right below the front leg and is mostly known only by skilled butchers. Other names for the cut are the shoulder tender, shoulder filet steak, teres major tenderloin and teres filet

More often than not, the Red Sox don't extend their guys long term. In terms of Betts, they should have. He's an elite player and there's no way to get equal value for him in a trade. He's a guy you sign for 10+ years.

Oh, the shoulder petite tender! Got it. Most of the time I see that used for kabobs and medallions, and honestly didn't know it also served as a poor man's tenderloin/steak cut, which is why I was confused.

I've prepped the poor man's ribeye (chuck eye) a number of times and enjoy that.

I would be fine with robo-umps. But getting rid of guys like Hernandez would be even better.

I get that there are issues with the robo-umps and the definition of the strike zone (2D vs 3D measuring, matching top and bottom to actual batter stance, etc.). They just need to solve them because the moment they put the box on TV we got to see how many calls they actually missed. I just wish the AAA experiment this year had gone better since they keep changing the zone and fine-tuning the offensive explosion they unleashed.

I think I want the robo umps over the challenge system though I imagine we'll start with that.
