Either it's just my anecdotal misimpression, but it seems that I now see, and not just with the Phillies at bat, more inning situations in which a single or walk, single, single loads the baes, rather than scoring a run, as would be the case if more runners went first-to-third or second-to-home on a single. Whether it is more slow runners on teams (certainly true of the Phillies, which may be what warps my perception), more strong arms in the OF (I doubt this one), OFs positioning less deep (also doubt), or more caution because of increased emphasis upon 3-run HR (barely possible), this does seem like a change to me from the game of the 60s and one which would emphasize HRs in the recognition that you don't often get 4 hits/walks/HBP/safe on error in an inning. Also, i am surprised that the projected explosion in stolen bases from the rule changes has not materialized.
