If he clears waivers he is free to sign anywhere. It wasn't that long ago he was a great prospect. If he can be had on a minor deal and works as a reliever, why not? But with expanded rosters and extra pitchers, it says something that he was the one sent packing for Knapp.

It took a bit longer, but JP does twice as good as Kingery in terms of long term deals:

Shortstop J.P. Crawford and the Seattle Mariners are in agreement on a five-year, $51 million contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. Deal will start this year and buys out two free agent seasons. Crawford, 27, is an elite defender whose bat has steadily improved.
