Twitter says JRoll got a minor league deal with the White Sox.
Thats really sad to see.
A little sad yes, but might be a smart move for JRoll. To start he would only need to beat out Tyler Saladino who seems to be a pretty typical no-hit, good glove guy. 602 OPS last year. They have a former first round pick in Tim Anderson who likely needs at least a half season in AAA, so there is a starting job out there for Jimmy as long as he can show his defense is still acceptable. Chicago's stadium should help his power numbers as well.
Probably a deal that gives him free agency at a certain point if he is not added to the ML roster. It gives JRoll the chance to get into a camp and showcase for the Sox or for another ML team if Chicago doesn't add him to the big league roster.
"What does three up and three down mean to you? End of an Inning"
Still one of my favorite Robin Williams line.
Glad to see J-Roll possibly latch on somewhere. With Ian Desmond still on the market, I was doubtful that he was going to get a crack at a good ML contract. Plus, if he makes it, it would be his first go-round in the AL so I guess you never know.
The Braves have signed Jeff Francoeur to a minor league deal.
Frenchy signs, and still Dom Brown is unemployed.
Francouer will always be a former Brave to me, even as a current Brave.
Cliff Lee Not Expected to Pitch
So, is he a HOFer? I don't think so, but perhaps borderline?
By WAR standards he falls fairly short:

Even by WAR7 he is in a group with CC Sabathia and Roy Oswalt. Below Johan Santana and Roy Halladay. These numbers do make a good case for Roy.
Sorry to see that Lee's career is done, but maybe it's better to have retirement forced by injury rather than irrelevance.
If I recall correctly, Dizzy Dean has the fewest wins of any starting pitcher in the Hall of Fame, 150. Lee ended with 143.
Cole Hamels sues promoter over Victoria's Secret show snub

Not sure if this is exactly on topic. It can certainly be moved. Kind of an odd situation for Hamels.

Dom Brown signs a minor league deal with Tonroto. I hope he figures it out soon enough.
I'm happy for him. I hope getting a second chance with a different organization will help him become the star he was supposed to be in Philly. I do agree that he needed to go elsewhere.
Me too, the guy has talent, he just needs to start putting his talent to use on the field. Maybe different instruction will help, probably not but you never know. Never heard a bad thing about the guy personally, he certainly kept his head down and kept trying, just wasnt getting it done. Looks like a baseball player, acts like a baseball player, hopefully he has a .300/.380/.500 year and takes off from there.
Shane Victorino signed Minor League deal with #Cubs w/invite to big league camp.
Brown's career arc is interesting to the extent that he tore it up at every level up through his brief stint at AAA prior to being called up to the big club in 2010. Then, bam, he was never impressive again, aside from that one month in 2013. Mediocre at the ML level, mediocre when sent back to the AAA level. A stark dividing line. baseball-reference.com/register/player.cgi?id=brown-001dom That says to me he plateaued as a book got out on him, pitchers made adjustments while he failed to make counteradjustments. We may never know whether that was because the Phillies were ham-handed in the way they dealt with him or he was bullheaded and refused to make the right adjustments or, perhaps, he really wasn't that good. I suppose how he does with another organization may settle that debate.
Glad to see Victorino land somewhere. He pretty much accepts that he'll be a 5th outfielder. He's hoping to go out with a ring with the Cubs.
