I agree with this, as far as being on the 25-man, but I don't think Inciarte ever was. I know he never appeared in a game for the Phillies and that he was reclaimed when the Phillies didn't put (keep?) him on 25-man, so not so sure he ever suited up. Guys who grew up on the Phillies farm having been signed as amateurs by the Phillies count as ex-Phillies in my book. Less sure of minor leaguers signed by other teams who we picked up and who spent limited time on our farm without ever reaching Philly.

He was actually a one game wonder. Suited up Opening Day 2013 before being released by the Phils so they could sign Ezequiel Carrera. Not from memory but just Wiki, although the "suit up" was in the memory banks.

Generally, in my opinion, anybody on the 40 man roster was "with the Phillies", the 25 man thing is just some extra mustard. Yes, that opens up questions on guys like Harrison, but that is where I would drawer the standard personally. Certainly can understand extending it to drafted prospects who played in the minors for a few years though.

In that regard, did you see that the top NCAAWBB prospect in the nation for 2019 -- Sam Brunelle -- committed to play for Notre Dame last week. Lousy month for Auriemma. Sam of course (??) is ex-Phil Rod Brunelle's daughter. Brunelle was Phil's 15th round selection in 1985.

It's a little surprising to me that Werth couldn't be on someone's bench, but he's presumably got no speed or defense left, and his on-base skills (and overall health) are long-gone. He lasted a lot longer than Victorino did. Just glad he didn't win another ring.

So far, Werth is the only starting outfielder on the 2007-11 Phillies who did not at least play in a WS with a subsequent team.

Whenever Werth hangs them up, I wonder if he and the Phillies organization will ever bury the hatchet. The Phillies are generally good in that regard as numerous players who left the organization contentiously ultimately returned in good graces as Phillies alumni or even as team employees. See, Allen, Green, Bowa (three times), Mesa, Schilling, to a lesser extent Burrell. Rolen is something of an exception, in that regard.

And Madson got a ring with the 2015 Royals, if we drop the outfielder qualifier.

And 2011 Phillie Michael Martinez was the final out of the 2016 WS for the Indians. At the time, I could only shake my head that what had been an epic WS and an epic Game 7 all came down to him.

Geoff Jenkins never played again. He might not have been the starter in the World Series but he was the starting Right Fielder to start the year.

I don't know how much you blame the media for this but the phans were pretty whipped up against him and were, in my opinion, not cool to him after he left.

Yeah, it was stressful at the time but hey, you don't have to leave for another team to get the phans and media against you. More often than not, time marches on (see also Abreu this spring. I guess we'll see about Rolen still).

I never felt any unlike for Werth but I did think the Phillies were correct to not top the Washington contract offer.

In retrospect I'm not sure they were, it was money ill-spent on Howard (and even Lee to some extent) and Werth's OBP and defense would have helped more (and for more years) than Ibanez (and Pence).
