Interesting little factoid. If the Yankees fail to get through the ALCS, this 2010's decade will end up being the first decade since the 1910's in which the Yankees did not play in a single WS. The 1980's is the only decade during that span when the Yankees did not win a WS.

In general I'm less than enthused by this year's playoffs. However if anything could make me happy, it's to see the Braves flop out of the playoffs in spectacular fashion.

it's kind of crazy how starting pitchers work out of the bullpen even in the NLDS these days. Clayton Kershaw, LOOGY (though I assume he'll go longer).

Kershaw comes back out for the 8th and allows back to back solo home runs. Maybe Dave Roberts isn't any better (or worse) a manager than Gabe Kapler (whom he beat out for the job)?

I think I have to root for them. Cards are smug, fake humble, center of the baseball universe, Joe Buck and Costas, and the last team to kick our ass in the playoffs. Anyone but the Yankees though.

This is the Expos'/Nationals' first postseason series win since they beat the Phillies in the 1981 strike-induced NLDS. Interestingly, the Dodgers started that skid that same year. The Nats look like the hottest team right now and are showing hints of a "team of destiny".

If the Rays win today, I would say this Postseason has the look of one of those NCAA March Madness tournaments in early round upsets proliferate.

StL is a great baseball town--one of the few baseball-first cities in America--and the Cardinals pretty much ways win.

I always kind of hated the Expos because they always found a way to be better than the Phillies. And I hated the hideous uniforms with ugly pinwheel caps they wore until 1992.

I'm not a Nats fan either, but I'm rooting for them and the Rays, Since I really don't like any team in the playoffs (I do respect Houston), I'd like to see a team that has never won the World Series win one.

Suggestion here that the ball has been changed again.

I have no issue with MLB deciding on a preferred baseball asthetic. If they want more home runs, cool. If they want less home runs cool. But the ball should not be altered mid season, or between teh regular season and the playoffs.

Would that ball Acuna didn't run out have been a home run during the season? Would the Twins have had a chance against the Yankees with the ball that carried them to the post season?

MLB should work with the teams and let them know what the ball is going to be like so they can actually build teams to make the most of the conditions.
