No again. I am applying a scouting standard to Moniak's best performances, understanding where those performances fall on the performance expectations of those scouting standards.
Average does not mean average for the FSL, it means average for the major leagues. Compared to other major league hitters and their performance in the FSL at the same age as Moniak.
You may insist that the last two months are better than that. But they are not. Major league hitters with above average hit tools do better in A+ ball than Moniak has, even in his last 2 months.
Take Cornelius Randolph for example. He had a month in Clearwater last year with a 311/417/472 slash line. Moniak is a better prospect because of the defense and speed, but if we isolate the hit tool it is hard to see Moniak as really better. Same age, parks, and level.
Instead of just complaining and saying Moniak is great, why don't you tell us who he is comparable to at the same age/level as we agree (I think) that even his best ain't Yelich quality? What evidence do you actually have that Moniak has an above average hit tool now? MLB.com grades it at 50 now. Keith Law would likely grade it worse than that. Is there anyone out there with a current scouting report that would grade it much better?
