Fair enough, might be too much to ask but I think a high end Div 1 guy should be able to hold his own in the FSL.

If Clearwater makes the playoffs I could see throwing Stott on that roster unless they think he has played enough baseball by then. Williamsport and Lakewood are unlikely to make the playoffs. Of course let's see where he is after a month in Williamsport.

No, that is not normal progression. In year's past, he likely would have gone to Williamsport right out of signing and then spent most of his first short season in Lakewood. Bohm was GCL and Williamsport. Chase Utley spent his whole initial partial draft year at Batavia, which is same level as Williamsport -- and he had 153 AB, so there was time to move him up. Pat Burrell did start in FSL Clearwater, but he was a 1.1 and the best collegiate hitter of his year, which Stott is not. There also wasn't a whole lot of D expected of Burrell, while their was of Utley, Bohm, and Stott. I think you are just being really overly aggressive in your proposed placement of Stott.

We need to distinguish between how the current management of the Phillies has handled to picks, and what may have occurred with different management teams. Chase Utley and Pat Burrell do not provide relevant data to what to expect from current Phillies management.

Recent Phillies top picks - even from before MacPhail/Klentak came aboard - have mostly started in the GCL (all but Nola). What's more relevant is where they finished that rookie season:

The high school kids spent the season in the GCL. The college draftees moved up rapidly, based on performance. If Stott hits well at Williamsport, he'll be promoted to Lakewood next month. He probably won't reach Clearwater - unless they're going to skip him a level (which hasn't happened with this management team), there won't be time. On the other hand, he could move rapidly next season - see Alec Bohm.

With a new director of player development in Josh Bonifay, I'd say there is a good chance Stott could move up quicker than players in the past. Stott ending the year in Clearwater would not surprise me. Even if it is for a week or for playoffs. He will then roll right into instructs.

Some shuffling in Reading with Dohy sent down from LHV. Seabold is finally back up also with both Eastman and Requena being sent back to Clearwater as those promotions were just temporary. I admit I get Seabold and Eastman confused all the time as they have roughly the same profile (and moved quickly through the low minors as they should have).

Dohy had a nice stretch but then two rough outings of late. I guess they are closing the door on any big league possibilities this year which would have been rushing it in any case.

DJ Jefferson was assigned to the GCL Phillies East this morning - per my records, he's the last recent draftee/udfa signee that was still at the Complex in Clearwater, but not assigned to a roster. (This is excluding international FA signed to future services contracts, many of whom have not shown up on any roster - which is normal.)

Mitchell Edwards C promoted from GCL to Williamsports

Rodolfo Duran is hurt or he might be going to AA I guess. Though one could argue most of these catcher promotions are on merit and that they really want to see someone like Aparicio hit at a higher level because he has earned it. Marchan could improve offensively outside of Lakewood also. Edwards is less ready for the promotion but assume they like his defense.
