After probably the best win of the season so far, the Phils can sniff .500 at 10-12 (which is actually pretty good for Aprils in this era of Phils baseball.) Can they get one step closer? They picked up Garcia last night, let's see if today they have to pick up Eaton.

Irony of ironies is that the acquisition of Garcia may have been the biggest cause of the offseason and preseason excitement and raised expectations leading up to that season.

At that point in the story Gillick's tenure was not looking too good. Traded Abreu and Lidle (never mind the context), signed Adam Eaton, gave up Floyd and Gio Gonzalez (the best piece in Gillick's best previous trade) for Garcia. Only member of the starting 8 he didn't inherit was the worst player (Nunez). On the plus side, Werth.

Kendrick kind of saved that rotation (and then Lohse came in).

Another disappointing Eaton start has the Phils looking at a rubber game with the Fish. Fortunately, Marlins killier Jamie Moyer is starting. (Personal note, I'm headed to the game with the kids. The kids are 5-0 in games they attended. Oh, and Werth instead of Pat the Bat? Boo! Don't want to see some no-name scrub instead of one of our main guys!)

A nice series win yesterday, beautiful day for a game. Great to have a calm easy ninth inning.

Jayson really showed the folks who were yelling he was "Werthless' at him before it started. A tough 10 game road trip starts in Atlanta, with red hot Tim Hudson pitching for them.
