I think the largest part of that is expectation. In 2007 we expected the team to FINALLY make the move up the boards and compete for a title (and we were right, well, the next year), but I don't think anyone expects this to be a playoff team. Our expectations will hopefully grow next year to where we are back to being the national press's opinion of Philadelphia fans

I couldnt tell you, I joined in August of 2007, but i know the intellect went down at that point

The first person I really talked to on this board was Phan_In_Bama, who was a really nice retired guy. He disappeared after this season and I assume we probably lost him, but at the time he really was the color commentator for our various play - play people. Always used ........... and ......... around his comments, pretty much commented on every inning. I wish you well wherever you are sir.

It always strikes me as funny to see Moyer's name from that period. Although he will never really be a candidate for the Wall of Fame, he was the guy that won many (most) of the BIG games from that period. He wasnt a great pitcher, but he was one of those guys that could muster up a good game when you really needed one. Although I am a sabermetric fan, he is one of those guys that was simply more valuable than his WAR, etc.

Considering that he won some very big games for us and was a local guy to boot, I can see Moyer at least nominated for the WOF.

To be fair, there are some pretty good candidates that will come up over the next few years. Abreu is the next big one, and in a few years they will get to the "core" from the glory years.

All the articles last year said Moyer was supposed to be on the ballot and then when the time actually came, he wasn't. So it seems like something went down there. Maybe he doesn't want it, or maybe his connection to the franchise frayed when he didn't stay on the broadcast team.

They are not going to run out of candidates over the next 10 years though, that's for sure. Abreu and Rolen both need to be in along with the '08 core eventually (and that doesn't even include Halladay or Lee).It's possible they didn't want to put Moyer in ahead of some of those other guys, or maybe they already realize there will be duplicate (or more) inductions for that gang.

W4/13/07 Phils picked up JD Durbin off waivers. Yeah, not much to get excited about, as the team has yet to win a series in '07 and now on Friday the 13th has to face Roy Oswalt, looking for his 100th career win.
