Interface Update/Improvements

I have a different computer and a newer operating system and search engine than I did several months back. I asked then how I could edit a post and you gave the above answer [Mod's note: how to edit your post.] Problem is, I looked and there was no grey pencil in the indicated spot. Now it is there for me and I use it, but with my prior set-up, I just couldn't see it. Just saying, this feature may not work for everyone.

I'm trying to figure out how to tweak the CSS so that line of tools appears in a darker shade - but I'm not there yet. I temporarily changed the background to a lighter shade of gray, to improve the contrast, but I'm not happy with it yet.

Now that I've figured this out... any thoughts/comments about how dark these tool icons should be? They're currently set at a fairly dark grey (hex #444444, for those who "speak" html color codes), but we could darken or lighten them if y'all think it would be better.

They look just fine to me. I could see them previous to the changes, but they stand out much better now.

They're fine as-is; the greater contrast is an improvement. Speaking of which, I personally would favor a little more contrast between the text and background. The gray background could be a little lighter. I can see the text fine, but some more contrast would reduce eye strain. Not that important though.

Tools are fine as is--if anything I'd make them just a touch lighter. I agree with Durham that a bit more contrast between the text and background would be welcome.

PS--I noticed we were sort of a BSG cream color for a while yesterday...

Hmm. I already changed it a bit - tweaked the pure grey to a more blue-grey.

The challenge I have now is that the board uses thin white lines to divide some things - as between individual posts in a thread. If I lighten the background too much, those disappear. Perhaps if I can figure out how to have it draw those lines n a dark grey... I'll keep exploring.

That's because your browser is caching the old header. Force a refresh (Command-R if you're still using a Mac). Note that the full header only appears at the top of pages - so if you're on the 18th post in a thread (this one, for example), you'll only see the secondary header (has the thread title in it).

I also noticed today (I was in Trenton) that on the PC, with a wide monitor (22"), the banner isn't wide enough - I'll need to add another pic or two. I'll take care of that...
