A good win to start this series against the Nationals.
Hand got two outs and had Call 1-2. His next pitch clearly was in the strike zone box on TV but was called a ball. It is always hard to criticize umps for calls that close, but in reality, it was a strike and would have ended the game. Hand would have had a 3 hitter save. But that was not to be. Both hits in the ninth came when Hand was a strike away from ending the game. Good job by Nelson to come on and get the third out. Syndergaard gives the Phillies the quality start and the bullpen (Bellatti, Alvarado, Hand, and Nelson) give the Phillies the three scoreless innings they needed. The relievers did not walk anyone and the only two hits off of them were the two that came after two outs in the ninth off of Hand. All in all, good pitching.
Offense scores 5 runs on 13 hits to give the Phillies the win. Realmuto goes 3 for 3 with the home run and 2 RBIs. Sosa and Guthrie each with 2 hits and Guthrie has 2 RBIs. Hoskins adds a home run.
A good win. Now 3-1 on this home stand.
