I just hope the Phillies get back to hitting the ball at home. I was thinking that Harper’s almost 7th inning HR bounced back into play from top of the fence, kinda epitomizes the game today

Still a very disappointing couple of days, but it was a 4-2 road trip (we might have expected to lose one in Toronto and win three in Miami) and they are are 9-4 between this road trip and the last homestand (which was itself preceded by a 3-3 road trip and the 2-1 series in KC).

Brewers also losing.

Funny, I'm ready to just let him take the hits for a few more starts. Allard will be replacing Johnson anyway (unless they want to try Kyle Tyler).

Sadly there aren't really any better relief options than Walker either. Covey who hasn't thrown a major league pitch in a year. The guy they just claimed who had a 9 ERA in the bigs, 7 in AAA (and was the first pitcher since 1901 to hit two batters on three pitches!). Mercado, nope. Yunior Marte, sure, maybe.

While I hate losing these last two in Miami, a 4-2 road trip is generally considered good. It is important to do well in the upcoming week at home. Win at least 4 of the 6 games.

Atlanta won in 11 innings today. Mets lost. Thus the Braves and Mets are tied for second place in the NL East, 7.0 games back.

At least you aren’t seeing the extreme physique changes that were happening with Bonds/Dykstra/etc. Remember Brady Anderson’s sudden 50 HR season?

Yeah, but I think a lot of those guys were outliers/the worst offenders anyway. Even back then most PED use wasn't really about those freakish changes, or a direct cause and effect on power. It was just part of everyone's workout and recovery routine. And for every hitter that did it there was a pitcher doing it.

Funny, for all the talk about how boring the game has become, and how dominant the pitching is, I don't see anyone suggesting reduced PED use is a reason for it. Or that increased PED use might be a reason for these velocity freaks.

Fish really are stinky (don't know if you have fished freshwater or saltwater, but let the fish out of the cooler yeah pretty stinky) the Marlins really aren't good - altho they hit today, but our AAA SP left too many pitches center of plate. Marlins probably have more minor league players up on the roster than not. I use that as a metaphor or funny description - too many here are way too sensitive or woke w/e. G' nite all!

JOhnson clearly wasn't ready, but they knew that.
This is still a good experience, he learned that you can't nibble in the majors, because walks turn into runs.
And he needs a lot of work on mechanics and secondary pitches.
He also tired, but he was babied this year coming off TJ surgery, look for a bigger load starting out next year.

The stuff is there, 94-97 4 seamer, at times the slider showed some bite and the change up has potential.
Hard coaching, a year starting in AAA.
Think he needs to add a 2 seamer as well.
If he doesn't develop the changeup or another off speed pitch, off to the bullpen.

Good analysis he needs to work on another pitch or improve his change up had some bite but the Marlins seemed to hit every one of his off speed pitches that didn't do much or were in the middle of the plate. One worrisome issue he was pitching to a mostly AAA club ie the Marlins

OK, you're new here, so I'll say this once. You do not make excuses about other people being "too sensitive or woke," when they're offended or put off by your behavior. You just don't. When a person offends somebody with their behavior, the adult response is to apologize, and adapt - not to make excuses, and not to try to shift responsibility to the other person. Moreover, you do not do or say something obnoxious and then justify it by claiming "it was a joke," and again, trying to shift responsibility. Arrrgh.
