I also don't understand EDmuch's hate for Nola. Nola has racked up 35 WAR for the Phillies. He has more IP over the last several years than any other pitcher in the league. That also has value in saving the pen. My concern in recent years is that the Phillies have ridden Nola too hard, too many IP. He tires by end of year and into playoffs.

“Hate” ? “hate” ? Hate is Gaza. Hate is in Sudan. Hate is in Ukraine. Thus is a baseball fan board the idea of @hate@ in this context demeans the true moral evil that goes with it. I simply said that Nola giving up 5 runs in five innings against a last place team is an example of his inconsistency which I think is frequently overlooked. The idea that is “hate” is rather over the top

I mean, he's no Wheeler but he's still the second-most consistent pitcher on the Phillies, and probably top 10 in the league both this year and for his career.

Everyone has their ups and downs. At this time in 2009 Cliff Lee was in the middle of a string of three starts in which he allowed 6, 6 and 5 runs (and 5 runs is also what he allowed in his sole 2011 playoff start).

I think just as most of us surely understand you did not literally gag at Nola's performance (or to be more specific, at people praising Nola's professionalism) we all know what hate (and a "hater") is in sports and pop culture (or even just as a synonym for spite or malice) without confusing that with the way one might feel about genocide or dictators.

Bringing in Walker is the same as conceding. We were down three, he quickly turned it into 6.

Please, please, please stop using him. This is silly, he can’t pitch anymore. The team with the best record should not use the worst pitcher in the major leagues.

8 straight outings he has given up a HR. Is that a record? Must be close.

He has had 2 outings as a reliever and threw batting practice both times. STOP THINKING THIS IS GOING TO GET BETTER. Someone in AAA deserves these innings, deserves a chance to contribute.

DFA, if he wants to come to spring training to earn a chance, that is fine. My guess is he wastes someone else’s spring training innings and proves to them he isn’t able to pitch in the majors, but stop wasting time with him.

He didn’t lose tonight’s game, but he secured the loss by eliminating any reasonable chance of a comeback.
