I had supreme confidence in Hector today.

Neris does get it done and earns a save. Phillies win the game. An important win to split the series in NY and stop the losing string at 2 games.

Never good to blow a 6 run lead, but very good to come back and tie the game and then win in extra innings. A shout out to Hunter and Workman for their scoreless innings (8th and 9th) to keep the Phillies in the game and set them up to win in 10 innings.

It's a lot cleaner when your closer didn't actually put the guy on second to begin with.

Big day tomorrow. Our last two games against a non-playoff contender. No guarantee they'll win the Miami series so really need both.

This was not a cakewalk. I though the way it started that it could be, but our bullpen--oh my, our bullpen.

Once Wheeler turned it into a save-sized lead that early you knew it wasn't gonna be easy. Would have been nice if the offense had kept the pedal down, but then in the end, they did.

To be fair, the offense did hit some balls well for outs and the fielding did not help the pitchers on a couple of plays. But all the teams seem (to me) to be a little shakier in the field than we normally expect from major leaguers. The disruption to the normal preparation in spring training followed by the several month layoff and then the jumbling of the schedules due to COVID or weather cancellations have made this a very challenging season for all.

They did have bad luck on offense but the defense is just horrible. Haseley seems to have lost all confidence and is playing way too deep. Garlick was never supposed to be that good (and apparently isn't). Didi was shaky today. Bohm is always skaky (there is an extra hitch every time he throws the ball. Plus a bad first step).

Hopefully they get Kingery back on Thursday because his defense alone can help this team.

Didi I might need some time off. It’s unlike him to make the plays in the field that he did today. Walker can play 2B and move Segura over to SS and give Didi a break.

A day off, maybe. Time off, no. With the way the schedule is all the bench players will get their starts. this week. Tomorrow's a doubleheader so some guys are going to get a game off, but not a day off.

All players are going to have bad weeks, or longer. In a normal season you ride it out. In this season you can't. In a normal season maybe a couple of days off helps (though it's never really possible to know). In this season, at this point in time, 2 days off is 10% of the remaining games.

Day off Wednesday also. They can empty the bullpen. Assume that was part of the reason everybody pitched only 1 inning today. They probably want 1 if necessary from Hunter, Neris, and Workman. Every regular plays at least 1. It will be easier to rest Didi if Kingery is back also for most of the Miami series.
