I mean, walks will happen too. We revere hitters who draw them, so it's not just the pitcher's fault.
Walks are also basically built in to today's prototypical relief pitcher. It's a fine line. Soto's still not on the right side of it but they knew that when they got him (i.e. he was seen more as a future Alvarado than a truly meritorious closer/All-Star).
