JT could have just stayed at C and Stubbs himself could have played 1B, 3B or 2B.

My guess is it would be the other way around. Realmuto is a pretty good athlete, he probably can at least somewhat play all 3. Certainly 1B

Remember Chooch getting a few chances at 3B in weird situations. No surprise that he knew what he was doing out there, not good, but he could have at least not embarrass himself anywhere

Coming back to win this game after seemingly being out of reach after only one inning is very inspiring. This team seems to have finally shaken out of the summer doldrums. Clearly, they cannot count on Phillips and Walker also gave up 2 runs on the home run, but had 2 scoreless innings in the 3 he pitched in this game.

Schwarber with 5 hits, 15 total bases, 6 RBIs, and 4 runs scored clearly the star of the offense, but his mates knocked out 13 more hits, so the offense was rolling tonight.

Alvarado got a scoreless inning and should be ready to resume his role. He joined Banks, Ruiz, Kerkering, and Strahm in giving the Phillies 5.1 innings, one run, 4 hits, 2 walks. Could have been better, but the mainstays of the pen kept the Phillies within striking distance.

A another great win for the Phillies.

Well yeah but if you didn't want to bother making JT take off the gear, Stubbs can do it. He's played the OF 14 times in MLB and played both 2B and the OF in college and the minors. Maybe a litttle short for 1B (he did it one time, in AAA).

Ruiz was a 2B as a kid. And it's debatable whether Chris Coste was really a C or a 3B. And of course Craig Biggio went from catcher to 2B to CF (and back to 2B, plus he still caught two innings in his last pro season).

Baseball Reference shows JT playing 1B during 51 games; most recently three times during 2022.

Stubbs has played OF 14 games; twice since 2022.

Neither has played any other fielding position other than C.

Amaro all but predicted Walker makes the next start.

I still think they’ll send Phillips down and bring Allard up for the next start needed by our #5 starter spot.

Edit: Just saw the discussion on the other thread - I guess we need one more start before recalling Allard.

And, supposedly they don't want to send Phillips down because then he won't have an option next year (and he's not a free agent). But he hardly even seems worth an off-season 40-man spot at the moment if it also costs a 26-man spot for the next four weeks.
