The messages in the clubhouse have obviously been very mixed. There has been a letdown after both clinches (and also off-days). And Thomson has pretty much tried to have it both ways with his statements.
I would very much like to beat the Yankees but Dodgers requires a lot of help.
I don't find it especially troubling. You can yell as loudly as you want about how important the HFA is but we all know it's not as important as making the playoffs and winning the East and securing a bye. And statistically the odds of the #1 seed being in the NLCS isn't that high (though that means the odds of us being in it also aren't).
Which is the other issue - I still think the match-up in the NLDS might be more important than the HFA. But of course that depends entirely on how the 5-6 ends up too.
