I know Kennedy had a heavy load early in the week, but he didn't pitch on the 23 or the 24th, and tomorrow is an off day. Maybe the Phillies still lose this one 3-0 but reliever workload's not gonna be a concern for much longer. Of course if Kennedy, too, is actually hurting, that's an even bigger problem.
Neither closer Ian Kennedy nor Sam Coonrod was available out of the bullpen, leaving manager Joe Girardi to stick with erratic lefty JosĂ© Alvarado, who gave up two runs in the seventh inning on four walks, a balk, and a two-run double by KeâBryan Hayes. Adonis Medina, called up last week from triple A, gave up two more runs in the eighth.
