BRaves down by one going to the 9th with Albies, Riley, Duvall coming up
Albies strikes out
Riley singles
Duvall flies to center.
2 out
wild pitch. riley in scoring position
Tie game
tied 8-8 going to the bottom of the 9th
To make it better for the bullpen, the boxscore said passed ball not wild pitch which would make it an unearned run....no difference to the Phillies though
going xtras
I'd bet that one of their early picks ends up being lost due to a Free Agent signing. They have 11 due to not signing their first round pick this year.
Braves take the lead
Braves win... Phils stay 1.5 back
Heck we could be signing a comp FA too. Or there might not be a such thing under the next CBA.
A lot at stake tomorrow.
Padres had two blown saves and the final reliever in the 10th lost the game. Braves refused to quit and kept fighting back to win 10-8 in 10 innings.
So Phillies stay 1.5 games back of the Braves.
Small sample, but Vierling is making a case for consideration for an OF spot next year.
AF, I was thinking about that too. We will have to see if he has staying power or is just another short term flash. 7 more games to get a better read.
But not all 7, apparently (not starting today).
I'd say it's recency bias as much as small sample, but he's just as attractive a candidate for a bench or platoon role as Williams/Maton/Haseley/Moniak
