Another dismal night in Washington for our Phillies.

Now even at 79-79 for the season. A winning season and improvement over 2018 now in significant doubt.

Kingery goes down swinging at 3 fast balls. The last one was probably over his head. Well, it at least was way high.

Smyly pitched well tonight but the pen didn't as the Nationals score 2 runs in each of the 7th and 8th innings to win the game.

The way they are playing now, I doubt they could beat the Tigers or the Orioles.

After the win in Cleveland on Saturday, the Phillies were 79-74 with 9 games to play. They needed to win 3 of the final 9 to have a winning season.

There are now 4 games remaining and the Phillies need to win 3 of the 4 to have a winning season. They need to win 2 of the final 4 to avoid another losing season. Last Saturday, I felt pretty confident that they would have a winning season. Now I think it is more likely they will not than that they will.

Frankly, the last 4 games are not that meaningful. For me, this is another disappointing season.

I said a few days ago that Kapler will probably start next season with the hottest seat in baseball. As it turns out that hot seat may have started a few games earlier, these last few games mean nothing, finishing .500 means nothing, but perception is not going in his direction.
