I hope Walker can come back in the spring and be reasonably effective. He was never great, but he was servable, especially if he is the fifth starter. For awhile in the past, the Phillies were very successful in games he started. This year has been a lost year for him. If he is truly healthy and can regain his composure next season, he could be of value.

There is also the possibility of a trade for another player with a similar contract who has fallen off in performance and favor with his team. The hope being that both would benefit with a new start with a different team.

I never thought I'd want to see Drew Smyly or Matt Moore either, you just never know. I don't think it's a certainty they will keep him around but I understand why you might want to see if he can put it back together as long as they are still paying him.

Can't put it all on him either. Phillies have been consistently wrong about his health, mechanics and role and readiness at every turn. But whatever combo of poor off-season work and injury took him down in spring training sunk the whole season.

While I can’t say that Allard pitched well, he was a bit unlucky on this particular play - Bellinger’s triple was a Baltimore chop hit in the perfect place.

Allard did all right until he had to go yet another inning. And that triple was one of the luckiest triples I've ever seen that didn't involve some misplay by the defense.
