Brogdon, after a rough start, has settled in and might be the best of Hembree, Workman and Hale. While I understand while managers/coaches like to go with experience, sometimes a talented rookie is better than a below replacement veteran.
Harper has his head up his ass right now, swinging at that low fastball tells me he was in "hero mode," not game mode, that is, he made up his mind he was getting a FB and swinging at it - but it's not like it was a few inches below the knee and he swung to protect the plate, it was six inches off the ground and in that situation he must spit on it, take the walk, it's 6-2, no outs and bases loaded.
Humbree is really bad, up 0-2 and he hangs a breaking ball right down the middle of the plate. Now normally I hate wasting pitches two feet off the plate, but jeez, you don't throw a lollipop in that situation.
Medina was interesting, decent but not great FB at 92-94, really good changeup, couldn't control his slider the first couple innings then stopped yanking it low and away and started hitting spots. He's not going to add much velo at this point, but 3 solid pitches is a good start - if Bohm makes that catch, he might have given us 5 shutout innings.
