Not only did the Phillies have them all the way, they played with the Braves and their fans by getting their hopes up, and then pulled the rug out from under them with a strike out and pop up with the tying run on third.
Seriously, I was feeling pretty good with a 3 run lead and only needing 4 outs to end the game, but then the home run made it a 2 run lead going into the ninth. First pitch home run made it a one run game and Neris walked the next hitter. Still needed 3 outs. I will admit the Braves' chances were looking up. But Neris buckled down and got it done. He really worked for this save.
Great to win the first game of the series in Atlanta. Phillis need very win they can get and there are probably not enough games left to get enough wins to play past the regular season. Regardless, winning games now will help the team going into the off season. Ending on an upswing would be nice.
