Philadelphia Phillies 10 - Chicago Cubs 8

Well, yes, there is. But I sure hope that chance doesn't come.

But that home run brings the Cubs back a little closer.

There is nothing that makes me think it is smart to send Neris out for a 2nd inning. Especially after a 30+ minute half inning. Dumb

I am more and more convinced that Girardi is NOT the guy to get us to succeed. He makes a lot of obvious mistakes

Patrick Wisdom

Hector Neris 2.0 1 1 1 0 4 1 25-17 3.43

Neris gets the strikeout, but he threw a BP 95 mph straight 4 seamer down the middle of the plate to get Wisdom. That could have gone a long, long way.

Having the extra two players in September helps but having a bullpen game in the rotation will kill the bullpen eventually.

Mickey Moniak

Offensive Substitution: Pinch-hitter Mickey Moniak replaces Hector Neris.
Foul bunt (85.4 mph curveball)
Called strike (86.5 mph slider)
Ball (86.2 mph curveball)
In play, out(s) (95.7 mph sinker)

Mickey Moniak grounds out, shortstop Sergio Alcantara to first baseman Frank Schwindel.

Moniak actually made contact with a pitch. A 60 foot line drive for an easy out. One of the highlights of his career so far.

Maybe next time send him up w/o a bat. Maybe the pitcher will try so hard that they will throw 4 balls before 3 strikes

Freddy Galvis

Ball (96.2 mph sinker)
Called strike (84.7 mph curveball)
Ball (86.3 mph curveball)
Ball (94.7 mph four-seam fastball)
Ball (93.9 mph sinker)

Freddy Galvis walks.

Matt Vierling

Called strike (94.7 mph sinker)
In play, no out (85.1 mph slider)

Matt Vierling singles on a sharp ground ball to center fielder Rafael Ortega. Freddy Galvis to 2nd.

Odubel Herrera

Ball (84. mph curveball)
Swinging strike (blocked) (84.3 mph curveball)
Called strike (86.7 mph slider)
Foul (84.7 mph curveball)
In play, run(s) (96.3 mph sinker)

Odubel Herrera doubles (22) on a line drive to left fielder Ian Happ. Freddy Galvis scores. Matt Vierling scores.

Philadelphia Phillies 12 - Chicago Cubs 8

Jean Segura

In play, no out (95.3 mph sinker)

Jean Segura singles on a line drive to right fielder Alfonso Rivas. Odubel Herrera to 3rd.

Only Odubel can swing at a 45 foot pitch (and miss) and then put a very sweet swing on a outside pitch and drive it the other way for a clear hit.

Nance pitched to 6 batters, only got one guy. Moniak. Not exactly an accomplishment, I think I could strike him out.

Bryce Harper

Mound Visit.
Pitching Change: Rex Brothers replaces Tommy Nance, batting 9th, replacing pitcher Tommy Nance.
In play, run(s) (82.2 mph slider)

Bryce Harper homers (33) on a fly ball to right center field. Odubel Herrera scores. Jean Segura scores.

Philadelphia Phillies 15 - Chicago Cubs 8
