Hoskins is hardly a finished product, though as a RH 1B he has a definite value ceiling. Get him back to 1B and he's probably better defensively than Howard (at least for a few seasons), and his career OPS is hardly shabby. But he's gotta consistently top .900 to be an MVP type bat, and .950 so long as he's in LF.
I think TTO is more reactive (to strikeout pitchers and shifts) than prescriptive. Obviously they need more hitting though (and more doubles). You always have to cherry-pick when you're talking about hitting approaches (and coaches) though. Are they the geniuses who salvaged Franco and developed Williams or the idiots who ruined Herrera and couldn't get Kingery going?
