Home stand ends up 2-5. Two one run loses to the Marlins and two tenth inning loses to the Braves before tonight. While 2-5 is not something to feel good about, tonight is the first loss that the Phillies were not in the game with a shot at the win up to the end.
The Phillies hold on to the top wild card spot in spite of the losing home stand. The upcoming road trip to St. Louis and Atlanta is important and will give the Phillies a chance to gets some wins before moving into Atlanta. A 3-3 split should hold the top wild card spot. I'm hoping for a 4-2 road trip.
The final ten games are 4 with the Mets at home, 3 with the Pirates at home, and 3 on the road with the Mets. It will be up to the Phillies to hold/win that top wild card spot with these ten games. They should have a great shot at doing just that.
But they have to keep hitting and scoring runs and they have to get some good starts and good outings from the bullpen. I feel good about their chances.
Time to concentrate on the post season on or about October 1st.
