Wheeler supposedly forced out Scott Graham, is that what you are referring to?
I have softened on McCarthy a little but he's merely adequate - as a PBP, as a "voice," as a personality. I have actually enjoyed Jim Jackson and even Murph in that role (turns out it was the role, not him, that made the "from the seats" reporting so annoying).
I think the whole TV booth is pretty weak really - the fact that Ruben was an immediate upgrade only highlights that. Kruk is good at his role (and he's not really that different from LA at this point) but they need a true "analyst." We were probably even more spoiled by Whitey than by Harry.
But the TV broadcast is certainly not produced for the likes of us. Comcast has no interest in making a simple, good account of the baseball game. They need someone who can joke around with the Phanatic and do puffball interviews with VIPs and ex-players. Also, the TV broadcasters are employed by Comcast and radio broadcasters are employed by the Phillies. An easy enough problem to solve - as this weekend shows - but another reason why the hybrid model isn't on the table.
Seems more likely that McCarthy's kid will end up on TV before Frantzke. But at least Frantzke should be on the radio for years and years.
