Yup we don't even have the worst bullpen in MLB, though it's certainly one of them.

You could flip a coin and put together a bullpen, I don't think there's any magic formula for a GM or a manager. Heck, some of the "stiffs" from last year (Hughes, Vincent) are doing better than both waves of this year's Phillies guys.

If we'd signed Trevor Rosenthal instead of Hunter or Liriano I wonder if he would have made the team.

It does remind me of the Cook/Wendell trades, though circumstances vastly different.

Bullpens are a luxury item, the difference between a good team and a great team. We're a good team. And in a normal season maybe these guys would have time to get right.

There's almost certainly a degree of bad luck/babip/SSS at play but its astonishing how often they give up leads.

I'm always aware that we are hyper focused on the Phillies and it can be difficult to understand where the pen is in relation to other teams but the results have been really bad so far in 2020.
We've probably been lucky in Workmans outings, I think this is only his second blown save despite his penchant for allowing multiple baserunners.

Games like this almost make me hope the Phillies do not make the playoffs.

Blowing a 3 run lead is routine for this club. I do not think I can ever remember a Phillies team that blew so many games in which they had a multirun lead.

Alfaro chases 46% of pitches out of the strike zone, but tonight the Phillies consistently game him pitches in the strike zone to hit.

I do think there has been some bad luck, but frankly, that does not explain all the bullpen failures. Too many walks, too many bad pitches.

Phillies played a solid 7 inning game. Sadly, this was a 9 inning game. Of course, in the DH games, the bullpen melts down earlier.

I really cannot remember so many multirun leads blown by the bullpen in the 69 years I have followed this team. There were some really bad teams, but they usually just got beat badly from the get go.
