Madson gets a save. Gives up 2 runs on 3 hits in the 9th but evidently, by definition, he had a good outing. I had a flashing vision of Hoskins hitting a home run but he went for the first pitch and made the final out of the game. Until the 9th, the Phillies didn't generate any offense. Strasburg held the Phillies at bay over 8 innings. Lively went 8 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits. A fine start exceeding the quality start definition and one that should keep the Phillies in the game and able to win on many occasions. I guess he gets a complete game although I'm not sure if you have to pitch 9 to earn a complete game. He was the only Phillie pitcher today, going the full 8 innings.
Another one run loss. Do they have the club record for one run losses yet?
Another loss keeps them ahead in the race to 1.1 so I guess that is the silver lining in the loss today. I am glad they did something in the 9th and didn't just fold away easily.
