I really do not feel much concern from the two blown saves
In the sixth, Robert comes in and gets an out, walks one, then gets the second out. Then he is pulled and Alvarado comes in walks the first batter he faces in an 11-pitch at bat. First, I question why a change of pitcher with two outs and one runner on base, but even so, Alvarado was okay. Relievers often rely on getting outs on pitches out of the strike zone. Yes, he did walk that one, but he got the next hitter to ground a ball to Stott, which almost always would have ended the inning. This time, it was an error, no out, and a run scored in an inning the Brewers did not get a hit. A blown save not indicative of a reliever pitching badly.
In the 8th, Robertson gets two outs on Ks and gets ahead to the next hitter, 1-2. The he throws two knuckle curves out of the strike zone. Often, these pitches are swung at and missed. But not this time. The 3-2 pitch is fouled off JT and a lengthy delay followed. This delay seemed to throw Robertson off and he gave up that walks and some hits to earn the blown save. Thatâs on him. But he has shown that he is still a value in the bullpen this year.
It sure helps that the Phillies won the game with more runs in the ninth and that Duran had a six-pitch, 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth.
