Seems like they want it the same amount after 10.

Hey, Alvarado's back, is he up?

Now its Clemens.. and Wilson could come in for 3B. I would do that

Yes, a successful sac bunt and the Phillies likely win in ten.

No excuses for Marsh not being able to bunt.

Estevez for a 2nd inning

it doesn't seem like the speed of the runner on second is an issue so far.

More Estevez, interesting. I guess this is actually managing like it's the playoffs.

Sit him down then.

Pathetic attempt. I know we're supposed to ease up on these guys in the game thread, but one bunt basically clinches the division and that was pathetic.

Sit him down.

Matt Olson

Marcell Ozuna starts inning at 2nd base.
In play, out(s) (98.2 mph four-seam fastball)

Matt Olson grounds out, first baseman Bryce Harper to pitcher Carlos Estévez. Marcell Ozuna to 3rd.

I think never being asked to bunt and likely never practicing it is probably a pretty good excuse (at least for Marsh, not the team).

Travis d'Arnaud

Ball (90.3 mph slider)
Foul (98.2 mph four-seam fastball)
Ball (97.4 mph four-seam fastball)
Foul (91.7 mph slider)
In play, out(s) (95.8 mph four-seam fastball)

Travis d'Arnaud grounds out, third baseman Kody Clemens to first baseman Bryce Harper.

Nobody bunts in MLB in 2024. Even in extras. I'm surprised they don't do it more in that situation specifically (it seemed trendy when the rule started but quickly faded). But if you're not committed to it as a team, there's only so much time in the day for BP doing something that will only rarely come up.

Whit Merrifield

Ball (98.2 mph four-seam fastball)
Ball in dirt (91.7 mph slider)
Foul (90.9 mph slider)
Foul (90.4 mph slider)
Swinging strike (97.9 mph four-seam fastball)

Whit Merrifield strikes out swinging.

I was gonna say, anybody still hate our trade deadline closer?

Baseball seems to always be repeating itself. Some team will get 3-4 ultra fast players and play small ball again like the 1980’s Royals. It just goes in circles, over and over.

Not sure what is best to watch, certainly that Royals team was exciting, even if nobody could hit the ball very far.

I'm not even sure position players could bunt three years ago. What we remember is pitchers being decent at it because that was all they had to practice really.

Ok, focus on getting the runner in instead of trying to hit a HR
