That Sanchez extension is looking like a huge steal. I think he has upside left, but he's already a 2/3 on most teams. Might be better than Nola at this point.

Haven't heard anything about a Ranger extension, complicated negotiations, somewhat similar to Eflin, you know he can pitch, you don't know how many starts he can manage a season.

The Phillies handled many of these extensions well but I think they waited at least a year too long to begin that conversation with Suarez, if they have. Suarez may be looking for at least Nola money now.

He may look, but until he starts 30 games at least two seasons in a row, he's not getting it.
That's why I use Eflin, we knew Eflin was a solid starting pitcher, but he couldn't stay healthy, Ranger in a similar position.

Not sure I would say that Suarez is as brittle as Efflin was. Somewhere in between Efflin's and Nola's money?

2023: 22 starts, 125 IP
2024: 20 starts, 120 IP, 8 more starts? 165 IP?
His post-season performance is a big plus.

I'd value him higher than Walker (4yr/$72), but below Nola (7/$172).

2020-22: 41 starts, 239 IP, averaged 14 and 80
2023: 31 starts, 177 IP
2024: 21 starts, 122 IP
