Third hit off Arrieta on ball Hernandez made great effort to stop but his attempt to hurry throw was off line.

A strong 8 innings for Jake tonight. No runs on 3 hits, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts. With PC of 110, I expect to see the bullpen in the 9th.

Franco fouled off ball four twice in that at bat. I have mixed feelings on that but realize that aggressive hitting can lead to hits as well as outs.

Another blown save for Dominguez. The 2-2 slider was way off and never going to fool anyone. Had to come in with the 3-2 fastball that went for the hit up the middle. The home run was on a slider as well.

This is at least the 3rd time Arrieta will have lost a win because of a blown save in the ninth. I recall that Neris cost him twice in 8 days earlier in the season.

He’s been overused this season and his pitches aren’t as sharp anymore. He can’t control his slider currently and has way less movement on his fastball.
