zambonir...I agree with the column and have actually only had two real goals this season since they decided to recommence it. One, that they find a way to re-sign Realmuto, something I once viewed as a no brainer but now view as about 50-50 because of the delay in the opening of the season and the loss of revenue. The other was that they get through the season without suffering a serious injury, one that will cause an already unsettled off season [for everyone, not just the Phillies] to get even more unsettled.
Let's face it, for most baseball fans this season is going to be a bit less than fulfilling for many reasons...too few games, too many players missing action due to the virus, stats that are going to be dwarfed because of the lack of games, and for many of us, a loss of a minor league season.
If this year has taught me anything about my affinity for the Phillies and baseball in general, it is just how much I love the minor leagues and following the Phils minor leaguers. We are all denied that this year and I can only daydream about Johan Rojas and his 5 tool potential, the "best hitting prospect I have seen" view of Juan Aparicio when he was at Williamsport in 2019, Eric Miller's curveball, and of course the joy of following this year's draft signees.
I guess I was such a product of Phillie mediocrity from 1965-73 and pretty much the entire 1984-2000 seasons save for 1993 that it was the minor leagues that I followed so closely, often if the Phils lost but their minor league clubs had a good night I actually found myself satisfied for the evening!
Anyways, good health and Realmuto's signature on a long term deal are my main two hopes for this truncated season.
