The rebuild has certainly failed in that we did not draft, develop or acquire enough good players from 2014-2016, but I think we knew that already, that's why all these moves were made
Still don't really understand how/why people are so down on this particular team, which is still better than last year's team (and last year's was improbably better than the previous year's team). Especially with the injuries. That Franco, Herrera, Eflin, Pivetta and Velasquez have all crapped out is a bummer, and one of the big mistakes this season (along with signing two "durable" veterans who broke) but it's not an indictment of the entire front office. I'm inclined to say in hindsight that a team with Williams and Crawford and Alfaro would have done just as well (in fact, that's obvious) but that would have played even worse than this team falling short has.
(I mean, if you want to decide that Middleton's Phillies are no different than Monty's Phillies are no different than Giles' Phillies, I'm sympathetic to that.)
