Credit to the team for not giving up when down by ten in the second inning.
Phillies take the series from the Braves, 2 games to one.
Key to the season may be not going into a losing streak. Take at least two from the Nationals to stay competitive. Take three or four to make a move forward toward the post season.
Bullpen did a decent job for the most part, but we are going into four with the Nationals with a well used pen. Good news is that Hunter, Workman and Neris did not pitch tonight but Howard probably will not give them six or seven innings, so more may be needed. Shortest start of his career for Arrieta and any game where your pitchers walk ten is going to be problematic.
Let's hope the offense can continue to produce as it has of late. We cannot complain about ten runs even if we wanted at least 13 tonight.
I hope the home plate ump sees the replay of his mistake on the foul ball call. I don't know why that would not be reviewable since so much is now. The replay showed very clearly, with no doubt, that the ball did not hit the batter and it was very clearly a fair ball by the time it rolled to Hoskins for the out. It the big picture, it didn't have an effect on the game other than causing the pitcher to throw more pitches, but that ultimately didn't change the game.
