Please someone tell me there was a logic in using Hoffman in the 6th?

He was actually warming up in the fifth when Allard starting losing it. I suspect one more hitter and he would have come in there, in a somewhat high leverage situation. Maybe since he was warmed up, and he was going to have to pitch eventually anyway, Thomson decided to use him then.

Not saying that's what I would have done, but that might be the thinking.
