I was really pulling for Scott to win this game. I really didn't expect that ending. I was hoping for a single.

Great to start the series with a win and especially great to not lose a game like this in extra innings.

Well that was fun. What a nice twist for Kingery after coming in for Bohm. And the two guys who could have pitched in the 6th or 7th got it done in extras. Very encouraging inning from Hector.

If there's one thing this team could improve it's defense, but I'm not sure exactly how, other than putting Bohm and Hoskins at DH occasionally. All the more reason to get Kingery right.

Even though it hurts more, and even though I am not a guy who gets worked up about relievers allowing baserunners so long as they get outs, somehow that Morgan performance was less irritating than a long inning where he throws 20 pitches and can't get it done. He just didn't have it, he threw some bad pitches very quickly, get 'em next time. (That's not to say I'm completely confident in him.)

Actually he's getting back to hitting the ball to CF instead of trying to pull everything, with his power, aiming for the alleys is fine b/c he has legitimate 400+ foot power.

Quinn is so fast he has to do everything to take advantage of it - I remember when Ben Revere, who has no power and was allergic to walks, still managed to put up 2.8 WAR hitting .294 (.333 OBP) and 3 WAR hitting .306 (.342 OBP) with average defense. If Quinn can get his OBP > .350 with above average CF defense he's a valuable starter.

I think in general people don't realize how hard it is to bunt a major league pitcher successfully, especially in modern baseball where the fielding is much better in general than it was 60-70 years ago, and pitchers' velocities are consistently low-90s and above (and visibility is often pretty sketchy in night games). A modern player can work until his hands bleed refining his bunting technique and still fail to get the ball down effectively way more than half the time. Quinn busts his rear end (and always has) working on bunting. I hope he will continue to improve, but I don't see any kind of quantum leap coming..he's already pretty good.
