I,m wondering how long we should stick with Smyly. I'd love to see our starters routinely going 7 innings but we know that is not possible.
I was typing this before the home run. Looks like once again, Kapler sticks with the starter an inning too long. Last night, Vargas gave them six solid innings, one run.
Tonight, Smyly gave up the 2 runs before we had a chance to realize the game had started, but then settled down. He ended up throwing 9 extra pitches last inning because Hoskins didn't come up with a ground ball. In hindsight, he should have been lifted after 5 innings tonight, but that is a tough call. I can understand trying to get six innings from him.
