Great win. Harper jumped on the first pitch and hit it well, and it got through for the base hit. Schwarber made it home ahead of the throw. Extra inning, one run win to start the homestand and big series with Houston.

Yep the home plate umpire missed more strikes from the Phil’s pitchers and Houston benefited by a bigger strike zone imho (like I said before he stunk it up pretty good). G’nite all!

It worked out, but they could’ve run Buddy Kennedy for Schwarber as well. I don’t know how well Kennedy runs though. He’s a middle infielder so he’s got to be reasonably fast. I didn’t realize he came up for Wilson.

Kennedy went to Millville HS like Mike Trout.

He'll probably be back after his paternity leave and then it is more likely the Phillies add an extra left-handed bat (Clemens or Stevenson) for September. Hopefully Kennedy can get in a game while he is up, but it is really only temporary.

Need to give Schwarbs a lot of credit for his off season work. He lost a lot of weight and has been faster and quicker this season. Tonight it really showed. He would have been out last season.

They might have held him at third last season. There were no outs so you have to be sure when you send a runner.

Absolutely. He is a much better hitter and athlete this season.

Fun game. Especially w/o having to listen to you guys complain. Instead I got to hear my friend the Astros fan complain Definitely felt like a playoff game and both teams were about the same in terms of good pitching and not being able to get guys home. A pitchers duel really, bullpens included, with our best player ultimately beating their best reliever (the AB he never got in 2022!)

I'm still not sold on Hays either. Also not sure Sosa had any more of a chance against Hader than Rojas would have, which would have burned one less player.

Didn't know Alvarado wasn't there but wasn't surprised to see Strahm over him anyway.

Just my opinion, but I think Rojas gives them a spark that is lacking when Hays is in there. I would prefer Rojas be in there most days. I understand them wanting to see what they have with Hays since they have been trying to get him for a few years.
