You can make the right decision and be wrong or make the wrong decision and be right. None of us are ever going to be able to accept that momentum or streaks aren't real. But we also don't know if they are.
I really respect Thomson's process though. All the uproar about Harper and JT not being available to PH in that last game, when they'd already been told the night before they wouldn't appear in the game, period, and therefore did nothing to prepare to play. Not that night, not in the morning, and not during the game. Whereas the PHs who were available were presumably studying video and taking swings.
Now granted, an unprepared Bryce Harper is still better than a prepared Weston Wilson. But in the end it comes back to the bigger picture. It's delightful the Phillies won today, but if it had been a must-win Wheeler would have started and Realmuto would have played. Resting them both was more important.
